When the going gets tough - Rugged, reliable and compact encoders of the new Acuro-XR series
When the going gets tough - Rugged, reliable and compact encoders of the new Acuro-XR seriesAldingen, 05.11.2007 - Hengstler has expanded its tried and tested Acuro family of absolute encoders. With its new Acuro-XR series, it has launched a new generation of magnetic encoders excelling by highest reliability and suitability for extremely harsh operating conditions.

High mechanical stresses, temperature fluctuations, contaminations, aggressive atmospheres or liquids can make things rough for rotary sensors and more often than not, will lead to failures. If you want to avoid this, the youngest member of our Acuro family will be the right choice for you: this newly designed Acuro-XR is capable of withstanding highest acceleration rates, mechanical stresses, extreme temperature fluctuations, and even underwater operating conditions.

The new Acuro-XR series is characterized by an extraordinarily rugged mechanical design, highest reliability and a long useful life. Its highly robust enclosure and generously dimensioned bearing easily cope with high axial and radial forces up to 200N. And the new Acuro-XR series is even resistant to shock and vibration: the PCB, including evaluation software and sensor asic, features multiple fastening and is protected against humidity, corrosion and contact breakage by means of PCB grouting. Extremely high shock accelerations up to 2000 m/s² and vibrations up to 200 m/s² are no problem for Acuro-XR.

The encoder is multiple-protected against penetrating liquids (IP69k),
non-susceptible to electromagnetic interference, and compliant with the requirements of the standards EN 50081-2 and EN 50082-2.
The 12bit-singleturn encoder is accommodated in a compact 58-mm enclosure having an installation depth of only 32 mm. In addition, an extended temperature range from -40 to +100 °C guarantees troublefree operation of the sensor in outdoor applications.

The new encoder family is available in several variants, e.g.
shaft diameters 10 and 12 mm, CANopen, SSI or BiSS interface, analog output (0 to 10 V or, respectively, 4 to 20 mA).
Besides the stainless-steel variant, other types are available in a steel enclosure. Thanks to its excellent electrical and mechanical properties and wide range of variants, the Acuro-XR series offers the suitable solution for virtually all heavy-duty and outdoor application requirements.
